Nelchina Glacier

The now that you've made it down to the river from the Goober Lake trail you can access the Nelchina Glacier by carefully following the Nelchina River upstream to the Glacier. If you venture onto the glacier itself, be careful! There are lots of crevasses and holes that may be covered by a thin layer of snow.

This is a good example of how not to ride on glaciers! We were on our way to Valdez when we found this guy and three of his buddies. If you can't see what's ahead STOP. He broke his ankle in 3 places and had to ride 40mi. back to Eureka (while mulling over his screw-up).
